about 6 weeks ago, i injured the end of my big toe, had a scab for a little while, then it healed. once i thought it was healed, i went for a pedicure. At the salon, the technician was rough with the end of my toe and re opened the wound. that was a month ago, and it's still completely messed up. I've tried soaking it in wound disinfectant, wearing neosporin bandaids, and it's not cleaning up. its scabby, icky looking, but is not at all painful. did i get one of those nasty fungal infections from nail salons that I've read about before?? i hv a picture but i don't know how to attach it.Toe infection from nail salon maybe ?
probably, lol next time don't go to a nail salon after you just got an injured toe.Toe infection from nail salon maybe ?
Regardless of where you think you got it, go see a podiatrist. They specialize in foot care. They will give you the proper treatment.

Infection base finger nail?
I had damaged finger nail for years, I saw a doctor and they thought the growth area of the base of the nail has been damaged. Any idea what should I do? or Treatment?Infection base finger nail?
Have they suggested the finger nail is removed? i should presume that is the next step - ideally stopping the infectionInfection base finger nail?
A damaged nail base isn't a topic for Infectious Diseases. The link below may give you helpful information, otherwise follow your doctor's advice for treatment.

The obvious answer is cosmetic.
Try the new ranges of false plastic and ceramic nails. I am informed by my DIL (a beauty consultant) that nail varnish is pass茅.......... and judging by her collection of false nail sets, I can see why!

I was picking at my pinky toe nail, ripped it in the center. It hurts. How can I prevent an infection?
neosporin and a band aid,I was picking at my pinky toe nail, ripped it in the center. It hurts. How can I prevent an infection?
Ouchiee
it it looks likeit may catch on something - sock bed sheet etc I'd file the part down or chopp it off carefully -use a disenfectant - nesporanetc o r just rubbing achol /witch hazel - it will sting !! bandage it well - %26amp; every day or two unbandage re clean it - check its ok%26amp; let it breathe %26amp; re wrap again
goodluck !!I was picking at my pinky toe nail, ripped it in the center. It hurts. How can I prevent an infection?
ouch!
that seems to always happen to me, when I get over agressive with messing with my toenails.. Just wash it well, dry it, put a dab of antibiotic cream (anything you can buy at your local pharmacy) like neosporin etc.. and put a bandaid on it, till it grows out somewhat and isnt raw anymore..
try pruning shears and a bottle of hydrogen peroxide
Dab it with a liberal amount of Listerine or another antiseptic. Finish it off with some Neosporin and a Band-Aid.
You might want to see a doctor. This could turn into a foot infection, as there are a lot of nasty germs down there just looking for a way in.
I'm speaking from experience, by the way.
Okay this is going to sting alot. Pour Rubbing Alcohol on your sore. Yes it will burn so your going to have to blow on it then it when the hurting goes down put bandaide on it.

What are the signs of infection from a rusty nail?
yesterday i scrapped my arm against a rusty nail, it didnt break the skin or anything but there is a pink mark there, as there usually is when i bump against something, I just need to know what exactly the signs are if it was infected?
i believe that my last tetnus was 9 or 10 years ago but dont want to get another one unless i really have to, being that i am 12 weeks pregnant and dont have a way to the doctors right nowWhat are the signs of infection from a rusty nail?
If the area becomes red, hot, obviously inflamed...then you may want to check it out. It seems you have a few things like this on your mind today~~just call your doc and see what they think is best for you to do since you aren't sure when your last shot was.
But if you didn't break the skin, I also wouldn't worry too much about it. You almost need to break the skin, like get the nail through your skin for infection to be a major concern. What are the signs of infection from a rusty nail?
if it swells.. and it dont seem to heal, and becomes watery.. and you get a slight fever.. that's a sure sign of infection...

Why would and infection in my toe nail make my whole toe turn black and some of my foot?
You need to see a doctor right away. What you are describing sounds like gangrene.
Gangrene is a complication of necrosis (i.e., cell death) characterized by the decay of body tissues, which become black and malodorous. It is caused by infection or ischemia, such as from thrombosis (blocked blood vessel). It is usually the result of critically insufficient blood supply (e.g., peripheral vascular disease) and is often associated with diabetes and long-term smoking. This condition is most common in the lower extremities. The best treatment for gangrene is revascularization (i.e., restoration of blood flow) of the affected organ, which can reverse some of the effects of necrosis and allow healing. Other treatments include auto-amputation, debridement and local care, or surgical amputation. The method of treatment is generally determined depending on location of affected tissue and extent of tissue loss. Why would and infection in my toe nail make my whole toe turn black and some of my foot?

I agree with the others who say it sounds like gangrene. I thought that as soon as I read your question. You don't mention pain or a bad smell, but nevertheless, you HAVE to go to a doctor immediately before it gets any worse.

Before you do anything you should get a diagnosis from your doctor. The doctor told my dad to rub Vicks Vapor Rub on his toenail fungus. He said it would take about 6 months to work and it did.I have an infection around my finger nail what do i do to get rid of it?
