Been to doctor, not interested, gave me cream, its no good. please help or its the plyers for me!I have a fungal nail infection on my fingernails, I want rid, quick, any advice please?
First it is essential to confirm that the nail lesions are fungal, this requires nail clippings to be sent for mycology and may take 4 weeks to confirm the result. There are 2 reasons for doing this, the first is that there are some nail dystrophies that closely resemble fungal infections but don't respond to treatment, second treatment for fungal infection of nails is very prolonged and some managements are toxic, so it is good practice to confirm the diagnosis first.
You are correct that anti-fungal creams are not useful for nail infections. There are 3 treatment options. the first is oral anti-fungals, these take 3-6 months in fingernails, but can occasionally be liver toxic. second is topical nail lacquers, these take about 6 months, but have no real side effects. Finally you can remove the nail, which even with local anaesthetic can be painful, it is a good idea o treat the new nail as it regrows as it may also be infected.I have a fungal nail infection on my fingernails, I want rid, quick, any advice please?
There are pills available by prescription to treat fungal nail infections. There are also liquids to paint on like nail varnish but they are useless and don't work.
The only way to properly treat a nail fungus is from beneath the nail itself so the pills are the only real option. You need to take them for over six months and it will kill the fungus from beneath.
Unfortunately, the reason the doctor might not have suggested the pills is that there are a number of possible side effects from taking them.
I have a similar problem with a toe nail and the doctor has told me about the pills but was reluctant to provide them. After talking with him about the possible side effects he agreed that they are rare and has given a prescription that is working as we speak.
I'm afraid you're in for some disappointment if you want to get rid of it quick. I've been receiving treatment for it (on my toenails) for about two years now, and it looks as bad, if not worse, now than it did when I first started to receive treatment.
From what I've read, neat tea tree oil, and listerine (mouth wash) seem to have been of great benefit to some.
I wish you the best of luck in dealing with your 'problem'.
I had one on my toenail. I bought Curanail from the chemist and it showed significant improvement within a couple of weeks. They say it takes a year, but mine started last July and has completely cleared up since about December.
Follow the instructions and do it regularly and you will son see a difference.
Im afraid that is generally all the doc can do. My dad and my husband both have this on their toenails and that the only help they have been given. Its possible that it might grow out with your nails. You will have to be patient with it though because these nail fungal infections do take a long time to treat. My dads had his manky nail for years. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.
Definitely neat Tea Trea Oil. Other half cured it in toenails. Doctor gave him pills first which gave him very bad skin reaction (like skin falling off!), then something to paint on (didn't work) but Tea Trea Oil worked, just remember to use it until the entire nail has grown out (can be many months).
well in order for you to get rid of nail funges doctor has to prescribe a medicijn which does work but it has a bad affect on liver and it is expensive it fights the fungus from inside your body and it takes a long time for it to work
Neat Tea Tree Oil has worked for my fungal nail infection. Apply twice a day and make sure you wash your feet before applying. It will take a little while though. There's no overnight cure for fungal nail problems.
maybe ask a dermatoligist, im not really sure. to much beer can cause certain types of nail infections, so it could be that. maybe wikipedia has something on it.
try lamisil you can get it from boots its very effective !!!
Try neat tea tree oil
