Yes,but the dosage is different.If you have 250 mg.capsules,you will need to pour the powder out and divide it into fourths.Give the cat 1/4 (FOR CATS UNDER 7 LBS.) to 1/2 ( FOR CATS OVER 7 LBS) of a capsule ( you will need to mix it with something really good,like a tablespoon of tuna,and make sure she eats all of it) once a day ( every 24 hours) for 10 days. Also,clean the toenail with peroxide twice a day and apply a little bit of Neosporin ( rub it in well.) If there's no improvement in a few days,call a vet.
NO... you will cause more problems than a small infection. Find a cheap vet if you have to, but find one.

Yes and no. Amoxicillin for animals is the same as for humans, but the strength is different. A dose for a human is calibrated for a body weight of at least 100 pounds, so you can see that it would be wrong for a cat weighing ten pounds.
Human drugs often also have coloring agents, ant-acid ingredients, sweeteners and so on that are not good for cats.
Consult your vet for the proper dosage and whether you can use a prescription intended for a human.
By the way, a toe nail infection in a cat can be more serious than you'd think, and amoxicillin may not be the correct antibiotic to treat it. I recommend taking the cat to a vet.
Animal amoxi works for humans, but not sure if the human version has anything in it that cats shouldn't have. If you know it is pure amoxi, it will be fine. But, animal antibiotics are usually much cheaper than human ones!! I'd get the ones for the animals and save some $$$.
The dose for a cat is 100mg (500mg for a large dog). We keep it on hand from the vet at all times since we have so many animals, and cats tend to get in fights then get puss filled sores. Usually takes a week to clear up an infection.
NEVER NEVER NEVER give your cat unprescribed antibiotics. And NEVER give it to them less than a period prescribed by a vet. The reason is, you are causing great harm to the pet that you cannot see. You are allowing the bacteria to become immune to the antibiotic if you give it to a cat who doesn't need it (because maybe another antibiotic is necessary, every strain of infection needs a different antibiotoic), and for too short a period. So if your cat has no problem now, the bacteria in its body will learn to overcome the antibiotic, and then when your cat needs it later it won't work -- which could be a life threatening situation. I know this sounds silly, but it is true. And, you will be creating strains of infections that are untreatable by any antibiotic. It is a serious issue since a lot of people abuse antibiotics. My cat DIED of an infection due to people who give their cats antibotics halfhazardly as you are suggesting -- do you want to kill a cat? It is this kind of irresponsible behavior that led to my cat dying, despite how careful I was in treating her infection s-- she got a strain that was unable to be treated since people abuse antibiotics. DONT DO IT. The human form is too strong anyway, and will cause a severe reaction including terrible painful gastrointestinal problems. Be responsible and go to the vet. Or, put some topical antibiotic creme on there if there is a TRUE infection just dealing with a toe nail.
