Hello,
No, it will not stop you from being given a Pass grade, (';P2, FE';) by the doctor. The military medical grading system works like this: it's called the ';PULHHEEMS'; system:
P = overall fitness; (short for your ';Physical capacity';);
U = upper limbs, are they OK;
L = lower limbs, are they OK;
1st H = hearing right ear;
2nd H = hearing left ear;
1st E = right eye vision; without/with specs;
2nd E = left eye vision; without/with specs;
M = mental ability;
S = emotional Stability.
Each gets a score from 1 to 8. 1 is very good, 2 is passable, 3 is below entry grade; 8 is terrible and causes medical discharge, if you are already in.
A pass in full, is: P2, U2, L2, H2, H2, E1 (with specs), E1 (with specs), M2, S2. That gives you the overall grade known as ';Forward Everywhere'; or FE for short.
Fungal nail infection should be treated, of course, and cured if possible. It is more troublesome to a soldier if it's on his feet, especially if it's on the big-toe nails. This is because soldiers and marines do a hell of a lot of walking and marching, carrying heavy packs. Infected toenail problems are a *real* handicap to that, 'cos then you're marching on sore feet.
Marines go into water more than most other type of soldier, so their toenails get soggy with water more, - and that would tend to make fungal nail infections in the feet, worse. Get 'em fixed! It needs several months on a special anti-fungal antibiotic, from the doc.
I hope this is of some help.
Best wishes,
