Nail Infection?

I have read everything possible about this. At the beginning of last summer my toenail on my big toe started to turn whiteish. By the time fall came the whole nail detatched and came off. now there is new growth and it is doing the same thing. I have read that I may not be able to cure this even with meds. What should I do and do you think it could be cured? Thanks in advanceNail Infection?
It sounds like superficial white onychomycosis, however it is impossible to give a definitive diagnosis without a full case history and observations. I would suggest you go see a podiatrist. Over the counter remedies are available such as curanail nail lacquer (far more effective than creams, powders or sprays as it will stay where it is put rather than rubbing off on your socks). This will still require perseverence as it works by preventing spread and allowing the onychomycosis (fungal nail infection) to grow out, which can take from 6-18 months. The active ingredient is amorolfine 5% the same as the topical treatment prescribed by GP's for onychomycosis. If you have had the problem for over a year the fungal spores infect the nail matrix (root) which will require oral antifungals such as lamisil tablets. These can be quite toxic to the liver so I would consider this carefully when trying to treat a predominently cosmetic problem.Nail Infection?
I had exactly the same problem for many years my Doctor even pulled my toe nails of under local anaesthetic .But they grew back still with the fungal infection.I demanded to see a specialist at the local hospital they cured it first attempt because you get regular appointments until you are cured and discharged
It sounds like a fungus infection, meds are available over the counter. It can be difficult to shift but keep on the meds and it will eventually go...;
Ask the pharmacist for an anti-fungal cream, there are a quite a few make sure you do not have athletes foot infection, the skin around the toes peels of and feels itchy. The two often appear together.
go see your doc. most nail infections are fungal and treatable over time.
Go see your doctor, he will probably give you Lamisil tablets
Sounds like a fungal infection. Best going to the Dr to get some advice %26amp; meds if needed.
If it is indeed fungus there are no over the counter meds that will cure the nail fungus (onychomycosis). The only pill that will cure a nail fungus is Lamisil. The pill comes with possible side effects and the doctor will have to monitor your liver while on this pill (3 months). There are many other possibilities including trauma. Many times people claim that OTC meds work on there nail fungus but in fact they never had a fungus in the first place. The best test is a culture of the nail to confirm fungus.
YOU GOT FUNGAL, TRY WASHING
