Can sharing nail clippers cause any infections?

A friend of mine asked to use my nail clipper and i was a bit reluctant to it. Can sharing nail clippers, with different people, cause any type of infection? Can sharing nail clippers cause any infections?
i have hepatitis c and my doctor said never to allow anyone to use my nail clippers, toothbrush, tweezers, etc. i would have to say you could probably get anything, from sharing a persons nail clipper, that you can get by contact with someones blood. Can sharing nail clippers cause any infections?
Yes if you or your friend has an open sore or wound ---anything where the skin is torn or bleeding----allows passage of bacteria to be transferred from one person to the next. But most bacteria or fungus, cannot live on metal surfaces long without a source of bodily fluids or tissue to thrive on, so a good cleaning with alcohol or bleach should be sufficient to stop the transfer of bacteria. However to be safe, I wouldn't share clippers with someone else if I didn't have to. Of course it doesn't mean that everyone in a family has to have their own clippers. If for some reason you should cause a wound while clipping your own nails, it is a good idea to clean your clippers when you are the only user of the clippers. Bacteria or fungus can be transferred from one finger or toe to another with contaminated clippers. Staph infections or fungal infections are probably the most common but they certainly are not the only ones. IT ALWAYS PAYS TO BE CLEAN AND CAUTIOUS.
Of course. Those types of things should not be shared. That and tooth brushes, hair brushes, nail filers, even cups and stuff. But man, you should buy yourself a new set of nail clippers...
ive never heard of anything but i am sure it is possible when an open wound is involved. you can always sterilize them later. you were not wrong to feel that way a lot of everyday hygiene products should not be shared.
