sounds like you need a good dose of anti-biotics.

Put the finger in hot water as hot as you can stand it, then try giving it a squeeze, but you'll have to keep it really clean!
Sounds like a whitlow see your pharmacist for a poultice/cream in the meantime keep it covered.
sure, drain it and soak your finger in peroxide at least twice a day
you'll need to go to the hospital, what they'll do is put a hot needle through you nail to relieve the pressure, my dad has has this done, go to a%26amp;e after work.
Make an emergency appt with your GP after work, he/she should be able to do something.

But, honestly, I think this warrants taking time off work. An infection is not good, and could spread if it's not dealt with.
Forget about it and just take new typing lessons - that way you can keep in touch AND have a complaint!!!!
Magnesium Sulphur will draw out any infection, you can get it from any chemists, put the paste on the plaster, not your finger then put the plaster on the wound.

Works a treat, you may have to use if for a couple of days
If it is hot and throbbing, more than likely you have an infection. You do not want to bust the pocket open. Try soaking it in a warm epsom salt soak and see a doctor as soon as possible. You more than likely are going to need antibiotics to cure the infection.
burst it with a sterilised needle don't use a pin though cos its made of different metal and can cause blood poisoning. popping it with a needle sounds painfull but wont hurt a bit.
dont burst it yourself get it done by a pro
Go to your G.P
you shouldn't burst it your self
Go to a doctor and let him decide. Don't mess with it yourself you are just going to make it worse.
Drain it if you can. That will take out allot of the infection and presure, then hit it with some alcohol if you can. it will help.
Go to your local mineral shop and buy some sulphur. Attach it to the finger with a plaster. And it should draw all the puss out.
its infected... is the stuff like a greenish yellow?? gross.... i'm a nail biter. 22 years going strong....... wash really good, put some anti bac, and sometimes it feels good if you put some pressure on it...(wrap in baby wipe and gently squeeze).... when it feels better, get some sleep and see a doctor in the morning.
You can give it a hot poultice - hot cloth - wetted with v hot water - wrap around your finger quite tightly and take some anti-inflammatory drugs and paracetemol for the swelling and the pain.

You really should go to a doctor though - are there any GPs near to where you work? Did you know that you can see ANY doctor in an emergency? You just have to give a few deatils in at reception. You should also get an urgent appointment with a doctor nearby as it is obviously urgent.

Try ringing them up and see if they can fit you in asap. I'm sure your boss won't mind you leaving for half an hour.
This sounds like a paronychia. It needs assessing and draining and possibly some antibiotics.

You should not do this yourself. See your friendly medic.

Good luck
Put yourfinger in a bowl of hot water as hot as you can stand.do this regularly its like a poultice.this causes the blood vessels to expand so eventually they expand so much they burst and the infection is released.keep clean after that
Leave work and go back to a hospital - simple as that..

You could end up with blood poisening etc. so it's not the sort of thing you should mess with.

it needs sorting %26amp; sooner, rather than later
You have an infection. I don't think you want to stick it or anything. You need to see a GP. He/she will give you an antibiotic to take orally.
i would imagine that what they would do in hospital is trephinne the nail. this is a proceedure where a hot needle is passed through the nail (painlessly) just to the point of hiting the underlying tissue, to release the pressure (and therefore the pain) and to allow the pus and infected fluid to drain. i cannot advise that you attempt this yourself, it must be done by healthcare professionals, i live in england and am a staff nurse at a large hospital so i dont understand your healthcare system, money wise. if you were to attempt a trephine, use a small hypodermic needle and heat it to over a hundred degrees centigade before injecting your nail. as i said, i dont advise this as the best way forward, and you should see a qualified medical practioner. the build up of pressure can be very painful!
