You are right to avoid the meds.

Fungal infections frequently result from a previous injury where the nerves in the foot were damaged, and supply to the toe is compromised. Practically, every time you bathe scrap out the fungus from beneath your toenail. Regularly massage your foot. If you rub your foot (top area in particular), sometimes you'll feel a numb feeling. That's usually how the fungus takes root.

Through homeopathy, I've healed a similar situation in myself, and ten toes for a couple of different clients who unsuccessfully went the conventional route of meds. In both cases, upon reflection, their fungus problem had started from overstrained feet (both on their feet all day). Think about consulting a homeopath if you'd like to avoid the conventional route. Be sure to find someone who is certified and has a 100% homeopathic practice. A lot of practitioners think they know homeopathy, but it's a consumer-level knowledge that you can learn by reading a self-help book.

About 10% of the adult population has a nail fungus, usually taenia rubrum.

Like you I am keen to be sure the risk of any medication is justified by the benefit, and I have never been convinced that this is the case with oral ant-fungal drugs, used for nail infections which are annoying but harmless.

Fortunately there is an alternative, though locally applied creams, normally used on fungal skin infections, don't work on nails there is a nail laquer that can be used, Loceryl.

It comes in a pack with emery boards and alcohol wipes and needs to be applied twice a week. For toenails it takes at least 6 months of treatment, since they are very slow growing, but has no side effects.

It can be bought over the counter but at 拢25 it is much cheaper to ask your GP to prescribe it. One bottle lasts about 3 months.
The side effects are very rare. The company has to put that on their products to cover their behinds.

You'll find most things take a while to work as well. I'm using somethig right now which takes 3months to have an effect.

You've been given antibiotics which is why it stays in your system. You have to take the full course of it otherwise this infection will stay there. It's a good thing that itstays in your system because it ensures that all of the infection is gone.
The pills will only cause another problem what to do; Tee TREE OIL is the ansew to can purchase it at a Vit. shop or in the Vit. section of a drug store, when applying always use a clean Qtip or cotten ball and nerver double dip if you know what I mean, let the air at your foot weare open sandals no socks always dry your foot well and try to stay out of water it will clear up without pills
If you take the pills, make sure to have your liver checked by your doctor at least once a month. I know someone who took Lamisil and woke up one day and her palms, soles and tongue were colored black. The medication had caused non-viral hepatitis (inflamation of the liver)
My doctor prescribed to me two ointments at two different times. They are as follows:-

1/Elocom-------from Belgium.

2/Batrafen( which requires alcohol for

its removal )--------from Germany.

Consult your doctor for your condition.
They put that on to cover themselves, i have taken them and suffered no problems. The only other way is a nailpolish type medication which takes a long, long, time to work.
Tea tree oil, white vinegar, or chlorine bleach applied to the nails twice daily should do the trick. It will stop the fungus, and as the new nail grows in, it will be fungus free.
tea tree oil applied to the nail, especially under the nail as much as possible, 2-3 times a day....it will take a long while, months.....until the new nail grows in
Take the medicine. Fungal infections take a long time to cure. Don't mess around. Take the medicine.
