HIV is only trasmitted through DIRECT transfer of bodily fluids (blood, seminal and vaginal fluids).

In certain circumstances I suppose it could but the possibility is so remote that it doesn't even need discussing! The HIV virus dies immediately when exposed to air, that's why it has to be transmitted by body fluids. The same goes for Hep B, you have to have direct contact, not a small scratch. Not a very good chance of it, especially if there was no blood on the fingernail. If there was blood on the fingernail prior to the scratch I would say yes there is a good possibility. The HIV virus is not killed immediately upon being exposed to air, it will die overtime, or with bleach, or sometype of antiviral. I think you are okay here though.

If that nail has stains of fresh blood then there is a chance of getting transmitted. other wise there is a little chance of getting HIV or Heptitis infection.....
