Their location. For oral meds, it's hard to get enough medicine down the toe %26amp; into the nail to kill the infections. Some of the meds are good, others can have unpleasant side effects.





Local treatments are somewhat better. One, an Rx product ';PenLac'; (I think) isn't as effective as the ads state.
