get a product called Fungi-Cure. It is liquid and comes with a little brush to put the liquid directly on the fungus.follow directions, use a couple times daily. worked well for me and i did not have to swallow medication
The answer is in the question, nails can be affected by fungi. Usually this is T. Rubrum which is said to affect as many as 10% of all adults. Treatment is either topical or oral antifungals. In figer nails treatment takes 3-6 months in toe nails sometimes more than a year of treatment is needed.
It could be caused by an ingrown nail, athletes foot, or when my dad was in the military his army boots gave him problems though I'm not sure why. But anyway make sure you get some antibiotics
